Industry Forecasting Tools - Country Industry Forecast
Indian
Information Technology Industry - Still Riding the Outsourcing Wave
With turnover of $31.45 billion in 2005, the Indian IT industry will be
further propelled in the forecast period by a continuing global outsourcing
trend, strong government support, a booming economy, increased global IT
spending and abundant availability of skilled, English–speaking and low-cost
workforce. Though India is a recognised and formidable force in the global
IT services market, the domestic market is also gaining prominence due to
the increasing demand from banking, finance, insurance and manufacturing
verticals. International participants such as EDS and IBM have established
base in India successfully and have gained considerable domestic market
share. The year 2004 saw Infosys Technologies, Wipro and Tata Consultancy
Services record revenues in excess of a billion dollars and 2005 witnessed
major IT outsourcing deals of Bharti to IBM, Bank of India to HP and Dabur
to Accenture This study presents political, policy and economic trends in
India, along with trends and forecasts for the IT industry. Click

Websense
Introduces Corporate Edition and Remote Filtering
Websense, the recipient of Frost & Sullivan's 2004 award for global market
leadership in web filtering recently made two key announcements. The first
announcement, is the introduction of Websense Enterprise Corporate Edition,
a product based upon Websense Enterprise® v6 and designed for the unique
requirements of large or multi-site organizations. With features such as
delegated administration, delegated reporting, auditing, and SNMP alerting,
the new product allows for an administrative hierarchy for managing internet
access across decentralized organizations.
Frost & Sullivan believes that in today's environment of growing regulation
across industries that centralized management and reporting will be an
essential feature of all security technologies. Furthermore as compliance
and regulation issues reach the board room, reporting and auditing features
will become central to successful security products.
The second announcement is that Nortel and Websense have signed an agreement
to develop a web content filtering solution to protect GSM/UMTS mobile
handsets and devices from content that could interfere with voice and data
services and also block downloading of malicious code.
GSM/UMTS wireless operators will be able to set internet access policies for
subscribers across three URL filtering categories – security threats, adult
materials, and undesirable content. The URL filtering and security solution
is expected to be made available to operators by the end of 2005.
